Lapwing 2016 a huge success!
The Lapwing Music Festival, held for the first time at the Cuckmere Haven Coastguard Cottages on August 5-7 this year, was a stunning success. Featured artists includedJoseph Tawadros, a multi-award winning virtuoso oud player and composer, Liam Byrne, professor of viola da gamba at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, John Crockatt, violinist and a member of the London Haydn Quartet and Anthony Albrecht, cellist and graduate of The Juilliard School in NYC. The festival featured incredible wine from Davenport Organic Wines and fine ale from Long Man Brewery, both generously donated to the cause. A scrumptious buffet lunch on Sunday was provided by Cashew Catering.
We had great media attention from BBC Radio 3, the Brighton Argus, Eastbourne Herald, Viva Lewes and Viva Brighton, and were delighted to host Baroness Massey of Darwen on Sunday morning. We are very grateful to No.5 Coastguard Cottages for hosting this event, as well as the whole Cuckmere Haven SOS community for their wonderful efforts. Stay tuned for announcements about the future of the Lapwing Music Festival!
Here’s what some of our audience members had to say:
“I am sure that among the audience there was a very strong feeling that in some way lives and perspectives had been changed as a result of an inspired programme, highly motivated musicians and a spell binding location.”
“Everything about this evening was magical: the setting, the warmth, enthusiasm and generosity of the hosts, and the music. Thank you so much to everyone who put this event together.”
“Looking out over the beach and seascape, watching the light die as Joseph played his oud and entertained us with his stories, was such a special couple of hours; peaceful, inspiring, calming and yet exciting, a unique experience I would recommend to anyone.”
